Abstract

This article highlights the importance of social science subjects in the comprehensive
training of engineers and architects where the use of appropriate methods in the
teaching- learning process is essential to achieve lasting, significant and motivating
knowledge in students tempered to the economic, political and social conditions of the
context where they develop their profession. The knowledge of the culture derived from
technological actions in these careers considers the socio-ethical aspect that ensure the
necessary ability to balance the technical with the socio-humanistic aspects to promote
the integral values required by these professions designed to satisfy the demands and
needs of society. This justifies the presence of social science subjects in the curricular
programs of these careers that ensures the social and cultural perspective to achieve the
sustainable products, goods and service expected from them, which is why they are
essential as a complement to comprehensive training programs for engineering and
architecture careers.
