Abstract

In Higher Education Institutions, human resources are a key factor in achieving their social function. Given the current problem of instability in the tenure of academic staff in Higher Education Institutions, it is recognized that shortcomings exist in addressing this phenomenon, making it a priority area for quality management. Therefore, it is essential to delve into the existing methodological gaps, using as a reference a previous study conducted by the Center for Studies for the Improvement of Higher Education at the University of Havana for the period 2014-2020.
Currently, the Institute of Pharmacy and Food is participating in a new innovation project related to this issue, and thus the objective of this work is to design a methodology for the contextualized analysis of academic staff permanence the institute. A propositional, non-experimental study was conducted. A methodology composed of six phases, which views tenure as a process, was designed and validated. The proposal lays the groundwork for working intentionally for the first time on the management and improvement of the retention of academic staff, with results that should have a positive impact on the organization, planning, the commitment of the different actors and of the leaders who are aware of the importance of this work; as well as ensuring the different inputs, including an adapted computer program as support for data processing.
