Abstract
The competency-based faculty position profiling approach in the Cuban higher education system is original and innovative, and a direct contribution to the subprocesses of performance evaluation and training and development in human resource management. This paper describes the process developed at the Universidad Tecnológica de La Habana José Antonio Echeverría (Cujae). Its definition began with the deficiencies identified in performance evaluation and the lack of training based on organizational process competencies and by teaching category (tenure track, assistant, instructor, and teaching technical assistant), aligned with the university's governing documents and strategic objectives. The proposal aligns faculty skills with the institution's strategic objectives, which should contribute to improving educational quality and institutional performance. To achieve this objective, theoretical, empirical, and statistical methods from scientific research were employed.
