Application for the Intelligent Assistance to Visual Impaired People

Abstract
Sight is one of the most important senses for humans, which is why people with visual disabilities face difficulties in their daily functioning. However, many of these people have mobile devices, which, although their form of interaction is not explicitly designed for use by these people, they manage to interact with them thanks to accessibility technologies such as screen readers and voice synthesizers. These devices mostly have a digital camera that allows them to capture images and videos, as well as other sensors. Using these capabilities and through the application of image processing techniques, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence, an application has been developed, which, improving others previously created and running on mobile phones and tablets on the Android platform, allows people with visual disabilities to recognize bills, bank cards, objects, codes, recognize the environment and navigate it, as well as colors and lighting levels. All interaction with the application is done via touch, and feedback is through synthesized voice, sounds or tactile reactions. In this way, these people gain independence and improve their social integration.
