Abstract

One of the basic processes in any entity to guarantee its economic sustainability is the maintenance
process. The objective of this work was to analyze the different tools applied for the diagnosis of
maintenance management through a bibliographic review carried out in this field and jointly the
demonstration of the need or not to have a model that measures the maturity in the maintenance
process in organizations. For the analysis, the analysis and synthesis method was used, as well as the
conglomerate analysis method. A total of 33 tools were analyzed, showing the characteristics of each
tool in the form of tables, applying descriptive statistical analysis. The bibliographic study provides
researchers with the benefits and insufficiencies for the selection of tools that are best contextualized
to their field of work, within maintenance, thus enhancing decision-making in the face of the
problems presented. In addition, a maintenance concept is proposed in close relation to its function
and objective.
