Abstract
This work presents a review of the literature on the benefits of applying Lean in the construction
industry. There are negative factors that influence productivity, which generate inefficiencies, delays,
poor quality, increased costs, and claims by third parties, among other aspects; but these may be
corrected through the application of Lean Construction. The scope of this work is to show the
benefits that Lean thinking gives to the construction industry, using its different tools and allowing
these problems to be solved or avoided. 51 documents were reviewed, published between 2008 and
2020: 29 articles are from Scopus, 10 from ResearchGate, four from ScienceDirect and the rest
distributed between SciELO, Taylor & Francis, Emerald Insight, Semantic Scholar, ASCE and
EBSCO. From the literature survey, it was demonstrated that applying Lean Construction it achieves
sustainability, transparency in construction projects through good planning, correct design, good
management, execution and control of projects for the achievement of objectives proposed by
contractors in the construction industry.
