Abstract
Building information modeling makes possible to create and manage all the data of a construction project throughout its life cycle, enabling timely decision making. Terrestrial laser scanning has been adopted as its main measurement technique and an effective method in quickly and accurately acquiring the geometry of the building thanks to the point cloud. In this work, the procedures for the generation and storage of the BIM model are investigated, with the proposal of a workflow that allows the exact representation of the geometry of the building from point clouds, where the use of Autodesk Revit is essential for the advantages it offers in terms of integration in the collaborative process between the different specialties, error management, quality and costs. The work provides a guide for Cuba and is opportunely inserted as part of the strategic development policy, where the advancement of computerization and automation of constructions is a matter of the first order. Finally, the procedure is applied in the building "Nave Universidad de Holguín", to illustrate the practical aspects. As a result of the research, the proposed BIM model is obtained.
