Abstract
The technology advances that have emerged in recent years have allowed construction processes worldwide to have new tools to facilitate the work of project management and control of works in the different phases of the investment process. The calculation of volumes of earth movements is one of the fundamental stages in the process of execution of these works, where it is necessary to achieve an effective control of the amount of earth removed in the areas of its projection and location. The objective of this work consists in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as a new method for determining the volume of land in the control and certification of the work. Through the execution of flights at different times in the study area and their processing, the point cloud is obtained to generate the Digital Terrain Model (DTM), which allows calculating the volume of the ground movement carried out. A previous analysis of the results was carried out by the direct method (field survey), which makes it possible to verify the results. It is concluded that the aerial survey method guarantees the degree of precision required in estimating the volume of earth movement.
