Abstract
This work presents a case study with a qualitative approach in which were identified and analyzed the main methods and determining variables for accomplishment of the need calculation of returnable packaging in the automotive industry. The consulted bibliography allowed the calculation formulas to be obtained according to the premises of the Kanban System. For the development of this work, the study was divided in two phases, the first of validating the tool and the second of applying the validated tool. In the validation phase, a research was conducted through a questionnaire prepared on an online platform and subsequently published randomly on two social networks, one general and the other professional, resulting in five spontaneous responses from professionals of the area. In the application phase, a new online questionnaire was structured based on the data collected in the research carried out in the validation phase, with which some companies from automotive sector were selected and invited to participate in the research, resulting in four responses. From the understanding of the methods it was found that the formulas used in the automotive industry are in accordance with those found in the literature and it was also possible to identify the most common variables that make up Loop Time. It is considered that the results presented contributed to scientific knowledge; however, it is recommended that new works are also carried out based on documentary research to further deepening of the theme.
