Abstract

Due to the importance of the audition in the development of speaking, language, communication and lear-ning, it is very important the early detection of disorders related to the auditory pathway in order to reduce its final impact. Among the most effective and the most frequently methods used are the Otoacoustics Emissions (OAE) and Brainstem Auditory Evoked Potentials (BAEPs). Both methods allow to research the integrity of ear canal essential in Neonatology in a quicker, objective and non-invasive way. Many authors have dedicated their studies to develop and test different methods that highly contribute to the perfection of these diagnostic tools. This article summarizes the most frequently OEAs detection methods currently used. Therefore the article evaluates a method that includes correlation levels, S/N ratio and signal ampli-tude.
