Abstract

A procedure, formulas and relations to estimate a value of nominal tooth contact stress in case of steel cylindrical spur gears is presented. The procedure is fixed taking into account the AGMA Standard 2101-D04 for calculation of the load capacity of cylindrical gears. Results for spur gear with center distance fixed show pitting resistance reduction with greater modules due to a decrease of the pitting resistance geometry factor. In general, spur gears with positive addendum modification coefficient increase the radii of curvature of the contacting tooth profiles. Some results of case studies with addendum modification for pinion between x1 = - 1 y x1 = 1 show increase of pitting resistance around 60 %.
