About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Cuban Journal of Engineering (Revista Cubana de Ingeniería) is published in electronic in order to help communication between engineering professionals and it is conceived as a forum for presenting scientific and technical articles in various areas of engineering, with a highlight of new results and contributions to the field. In this way, the journal aims to contribute to the update of professionals, researchers, professors and engineering students at a national and international discussion and, therefore, technical and scientific development of Cuba in the area of engineering.
The fields of interest to the journal is defined and not restricted to: civil, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, industrial, computer, chemical, mechanical and metallurgic engineering as well as content associated with materials engineering, bioengineering, transportation, geophysics, reengineering and maintenance, among others. There are also considered appropriate items to solving social problems of the technical sciences and teaching of engineers, including curricula, educational technologies, informatics, university management and university-industry relationship.
Since engineering practice increasingly requires the interaction of various disciplines, this journal assigns priority to publish articles with attention to multi-disciplinary integration, the interdisciplinary developments and practical applications.
The Journal of Engineering publishes the following type of articles
- Editorial: Document written by the editor, an editorial board member or a guest researcher on the content present in the journal or in a specific subject of interest.
- Research papers: Articles with results of scientific and technology research. The organization used will contain the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions and References. The findings should be included in the discussion.
- Review articles. This document is based in a deep finding and analysis of the state of arts in a specific subject, not only based on bibliographic analysis but on a final product that is considered of worth for the scientific community. It is characterized by a careful review of the literature of at least 40 references.
- Scientific Essay. Its objective is to bring us closer to the environment of a research problem, to generate an explanation of how the writer analyzes the world in relation to the proposed topic. It is characterized by its objectivity, following the scientific method. Its structure is: Introduction, Methodology, Results and Discussion and Conclusions.
- Experiences in the training of Engineers and Architects.They include works related to the experiences of: teachers; groups of Disciplines, subjects, departments, in the solution of pedagogical problems. Incorporating the theoretical foundations that serve as a basis for the analysis of experiences. The structure should be Introduction, Development, Conclusions and References.
Peer Review Process
Revista Cubana de Ingeniería has established a peer review policy of manuscripts submitted by authors, by a single double blind process. In some cases, authors are requested to propose at least two specialists in the subject and not related to the authors in any link. The Editorial board, as well as the reviewers will pay special attention to the ethical standards avoiding any conflicts of interest. The Editorial Board of the Journal reserves the right to refuse items not deemed suitable for publication. The manuscript can be rejected, approved (such approval may be for publication or to make corrections identified by the reviewers) or may be subject to further revisions. The whole process will go via e-mail notice.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that doing research freely available to the public, supporting the wide exchange of global knowledge.
The contents of the journal are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 Unported License. This means that it allows copying and distribution by any means, keeping the recognition of the authors and not commercial use is made of works.

Publication as preprints
RCI, promoting the policy of Open Access, advices the use of preprint servers before the sending of the manuscript to our journal.
Open Science Policy
RCI promotes the initiative of research data opened and accesible in public servers. For this, RCI offers access to information without any cost and through internet. The journal allows the reutilization, integration and redistribution of information for academic and researching purposes.
Taxonomy CRediT: (Contributor Roles)
Due to the growing interest in increasing the transparency and accesibility to the author's contributions, RCI implements the author's contributions based on CRediT taxonomy.
It represents a mandatory field in the manuscript, beside the indication of the ORCID code of each author.
According to the CRediT taxonomy, the following cathegories are established:
