Resumen

The International Conference on Network Enterprises and Logistics Management (NETLOG) is a scientific event that is focused on topics related to logistics operations and supply chains in several areas. These topics involve agribusiness, circular economy, green supply chains, logistics and transportation, industry 4.0 and digital transformation, and others. The conference is traditionally organized by Postgraduate Program in Production Engineering at Universidade Paulista-UNIP, Brazil, and the Laboratory Qalinca-Labs, Logistics & Transport Systems at Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium.
The thematic of the second event in 2021 was “Logistics in the New Economy: Challenges and Opportunities in Supply Chain 4.0”. Originally, the event was planned to take place in São Paulo at Universidade Paulista-UNIP, however, due to the global outbreak of COVID-19, the event was realized fully online from 02 to 05 May 2021.
During the event, important issues regarding logistics and supply chains were discussed. Professor Alassane Ballé Ndiaye and Professor Alexis Nsamzinshuti, from Qalinca-Labs, ULB, Belgium presented „Sustainability in supply chains: challenges and trends‟. Professor Irenilza de Alencar Naas, from Universidade Paulista - UNIP/Facta spoke about “Environmental impact of food on-roadtransportation: How to deal with it in continental countries to meet the UN 2030 agenda?”. Professor Pedro Amorim from the University of Porto, Portugal, brought us the “Risk Management in Supply Chain Planning”. Moreover, more than 80 papers were presented in 16 sessions. In addition, the event has benefited from the contribution of companies such as Cooxupe and UPS.
Now, Revista Cubana de Ingeniería (RCI), a special partner of NETLOG, publishes 15 selected papers from the conference, revised and with the inclusion of the discussion among the participants during the conference days.
Our special thanks to Prof. Dr. Ramón Piloto Rodríguez, Universidad Tecnológica de la Habana José Antonio Echeverría (Cujae), Editor of RCI, for all his efforts and collaboration with NETLOG and for delivering this amazing Special Issue of RCI.
